Locum - Physician - General Medicine Houston, TX

Overview
We are seeking qualified General Medicine providers to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments on an as-needed basis. The position involves conducting primarily interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is required. This role is ideal for experienced physicians looking for flexible, short-term engagements with a reputable government contractor committed to veteran care.
Required Skills
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid medical license in the state of Texas
- Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine
- Ability to perform interview-based assessments and physical evaluations
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently in a clinical setting
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with Compensation & Pension examinations or veteran healthcare evaluations
- Background in orthopedic surgery or other specialties related to general medicine
- Familiarity with medical documentation and report submission processes
Preferred Education and Experience
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a general medicine setting
- Prior experience with government medical examinations or related assessments is a plus
Other Requirements
- Currently licensed to practice medicine in Texas
- Owns and operates a private office space (for providers handling their own locations)
- Availability to work days, with flexibility for PRN scheduling
- Willingness to perform both half-day ($800) and full-day ($1600) shifts, including administrative follow-up work
- Ability to start by December 31, 2025
- Local candidates only; travel reimbursements included in rates
- No requirement for DMA certifications or portal training prior to start
