American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring ventilator care experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a general PCU hybrid unit with 10 PCU beds and 2 ICU beds
- Care for vent and trach-dependent patients and those with DKA, COPD, sepsis, overdose, and chronic respiratory or renal failure
- Typical patient ratio is 1:5
- Ventilator care for chronic trach and vent patients required
- 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Weekend requirement is either every other weekend or 6 shifts in a 6-week block
- Charting is done in EPIC and prior experience is required
- Remote telemetry is utilized and tele sitting increases Patient Care Tech coverage
- Floating to other units within skillset may be required
- Must be able to activate Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Locals are accepted for this position
- RTO and special scheduling requests must be included at time of application
- May be required to provide care in both PCU and ICU-level settings as needed
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted for non-compact single-state holders)
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Ability to provide IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Demonstrated competence in ventilator care, including for chronic trach patients
- Experience with medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration)
- Proficiency in non-invasive airway management and respiratory support
- Experience with isolation precautions and telemetry in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown units
- EPIC charting experience required
- Two professional references needed for consideration
