American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring a NM or compact license and ICU neuro skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Neuro ICU unit of a large teaching and Level I trauma hospital
- Patient population includes TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurological disorders
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2
- Shift is 3x12 hours day shift (7:00 to 19:30); 36 or 48-hour weeks available
- May be required to float to other ICUs, PCU, ED, or PACU as needed
- May occasionally care for med-surg type patients when floated, with ratios occasionally up to 6:1
- Cerner is the charting system used and experience is preferred
- Block scheduling may be possible but is not guaranteed
- May be asked to float to CTICU in the new facility tower as needed
- Responsible for care of patients with complex neuro and post-thrombectomy needs
- Team structure includes support within a multidisciplinary teaching environment
- Black scrubs are required for this position
- No on-call requirements for this assignment
- First time travelers are accepted
- Free parking is available on site
- Requests for more than 7 days of time off require approval
- Active NM or Compact RN license is required (pending license accepted for consideration)
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Neuro ICU experience
- Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with EVD and A-line insertions, intubation, central line insertion, CRRT, and post-op neuro care is required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and monitor ICP is required
- COVID vaccination required, with exemptions accepted per documentation
