American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) night shift assignment requiring NE or compact state licensure and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care setting on a 33-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown)
- Patient population includes young adults through geriatrics with conditions such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and multisystem failure
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-5
- RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and insulin
- Utilizes Epic EMR system
- RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips
- Night shifts are 12 hours; required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Required to float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care if necessary
- Equipment includes BiPAP and Airvo
- CNAs support with a ratio of 1:10 depending on census
- Responsibilities include frequent admissions and discharges, bedside report, and hourly rounding
- A strong sense of teamwork and a positive, engaged attitude are valued on this unit
- Detailed orientation includes first week classroom training and two 12-hour floor shifts
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Up to 7 days of requested time off can be approved; additional time off will not be approved during the contract
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Active NE or compact RN license; pending licenses will not be considered
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Experience with titration of drips required
- Must provide a valid driver's license for verification of residency outside a 50-mile radius
- Candidates may not currently be or have been employed as full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Must pass an open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- No artificial nails permitted in patient care areas
