American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg-Nephrology position requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital on a 21-bed Nephrology Medical Surgical unit
- Patient population includes ESRD, AKI, dialysis, transplant, urology, and general medicine overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
- Shift is three 12-hour nights per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with every other weekend and holiday rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required to general medicine units and occasionally as a sitter or to ED or ICUs as a helper
- Uses Epic EMR, prior Epic experience preferred but not required
- Overhead lift equipment in all rooms and bedside shift report required
- Perform bedside reports and frequent patient rounding
- Collaborate closely with PCTs who assist with vital signs, baths, activity, blood glucose checks, and foley care
- Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7, with charge nurse generally without a patient assignment
- BiPAP and CPAP used for sleep only; respiratory therapists available for support; nurses administer inhalers
- Telemetry monitored on another unit; nurses receive alerts for rhythm changes
- Scrubs may be any color; no artificial nails, gel nails, chipped polish, visible tattoos, or piercings
- Three-day unit-specific orientation with preceptor provided
- Self-scheduling available with flexibility to meet traveler needs
- No COVID-19 vaccine required
- Local candidates are accepted at a different rate if residing within 50 miles
- Active IL RN license at time of consideration
- One year of RN experience required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- General medical-surgical nursing background required
- Nephrology or urology experience preferred
- Must pass a drug screening for all panels
