The city was named for Jesse Franklin, one of two state commissioners who surveyed and organized the town in 1820 as the county seat for what would become Macon County in 1828. Jesse Franklin served North Carolina as a senator and as its 20th governor. The city of Franklin was not formally incorporated until 1855. Franklin is home to approximately 3,900 citizens, but the population nearly doubles during the spring, summer and fall seasons due to our temperate climate and beautiful scenery. Our geographical position enables us to enjoy cool summer nights and mild winters. With a healthy tourism industry and lots of local people taking an active role in the community, there are always exciting activities and places to go.

Physician Psychiatrist
Franklin CBOC - Franklin, North Carolina.
Current Staffing: FCBOC: Outpatient, 4 PACT teams, 3,966 enrolled currently, tele-health, optometry, lab, mental health and physical therapy, reports to Medical Director.
Highlights of this position include:
- Potential starting base salary: $260,000 - $270,000.
- Compressed Tour of Duty.
- No on call or weekend shifts.

- Board certified or board eligible.

- Malpractice Insurance VA physicians are covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act - 28 U.S.C. 1346 and 28 U.S.C 2671. Medical personnel have statutory immunity from individual malpractice liability while acting within the scope of employment; a VA physician cannot be sued in civil court for a malpractice (tort) claim.
