Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification
• Proficient in Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital; emergency room experience preferred
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department within the RN scope of practice
• Educate and guide patients, families, and other healthcare staff
• Uphold professional nursing standards and hospital policies
• Communicate effectively with physicians and the healthcare team regarding patient status and care plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
• Demonstrate knowledge of EMTALA regulations and mandatory reporting requirements
• Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality
