Position: RN – Med/Surg (Night) Contract: 13 weeks | Start: 1/26 or 2/9 (bi-weekly orientation) Shift: 12-hr Nights, 18:30–07:00 Guaranteed Hours: 36/week (48 hrs accepted on request) • OT: After 52 hrs on 48-hr contracts Weekend/Holiday: Every 3rd weekend; every other holiday Call/Call Back: N/A Local Candidates: Not eligible (40-mile radius rule) Licensure & Certifications: • Current active compact RN license • BLS (AHA), NIHSS Experience Required: • Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience • At least 1 travel assignment Charting: Recent EPIC experience required (checkoff class mandatory) Float Requirements: • First to float within skillset • Cross-campus float possible: Deaconess Newburgh (8 mi) & Midtown (11 mi) with 2-hr notice • Mid-shift float within same campus Patient Population: • General Med/Surg: gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs, COVID, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory Skillset: • PIV insertion, chest tube/drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG care, ostomy care • Remote telemetry, blood product administration • NIHSS/dysphagia screen • Strong assessment & critical thinking required; resilient and adaptable Unit Info: • 45 beds | Ratio: Days 1:4–5; Nights 1:5–7 • CN takes full night assignment; may take patients on days • Experienced staff; teaching hospital (may precept students/new hires) Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; no competing health system/agency logos Other Notes: • 3 call-ins may result in termination • COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change) • GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation week
