• Location: Salem, MA 01970 (North Shore, Massachusetts)
• Healthcare Setting: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) – Surgical Services
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: January 4, 2026 – End: April 4, 2026)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 40 hours
• Shifts: Evening shifts with occasional day shifts (no night shifts). Schedule options: 2x10-hour shifts and 1x8-hour shift, or 4x10-hour shifts.
• Patient Ratio: 1 RN : 2 patients
• Unit Details: 34 beds; census of 30–40 patients daily
• Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics
• EMR System: EPIC
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,990–$2,130

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent PACU RN experience in a hospital or surgical center
• Active Massachusetts RN license
• Required certifications: ACLS, PALS, and BLS
• Ability to work evening and occasional day shifts
• Strong clinical skills in post-anesthesia care for surgical specialties: General, Thoracic, Plastic, Vascular, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in a busy PACU environment
• Monitor and assess post-surgical patients, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
• Support pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients throughout the recovery process
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and best practices
