MANTECH seeks a highly skilled and motivated Platform/Orchestration Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.

The Platform/Orchestration Engineer will design, modernize, and sustain the critical infrastructure powering our cyber operations. This role involves engineering the future of operational platforms through automation, cloud-native architecture, and DevSecOps principles. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of mission systems—from physical and virtual networks to the high-level orchestration of containerized environments—ensuring our operators have high-performance, secure, and available tools.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Architecting and maintaining mission platforms, operational planning tools, and visualization interfaces
  • Leading the transition of legacy systems to commercial, private, and hybrid cloud environments using Kubernetes, KVM/QEMU, VMware, and other emerging technologies
  • Implementing containerized environments to increase the agility and scalability of cyber capabilities
  • Performing technical maintenance for mission-critical networks to ensure 24/7 availability and peak performance
  • Building and maintaining high-fidelity lab environments, simulators, and test ranges to evaluate prototype systems
  • Providing tier-level support to ensure data, communications, and system health for all range and lab end-users
  • Utilizing automated orchestration and delivery pathways to manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via Terraform and Ansible

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience; or High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of experience
  • Familiarity with KVM/QEMU, VMware ESXi, or Hyper-V for managing kernel-level virtualization and emulated hardware
  • Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker
  • Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudInit.
  • Solid understanding of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and experience using eMASS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or CASP+)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional or Associate)
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Virtualization, RHCSA, or RHCE
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or Engineering

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be US Citizen and have an active TS/SCI with polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel.
