Assignment DurationThis is a 13-week contract position.
ScheduleThe shift is 8 hours long, running from 0615 to 1445, Monday through Friday. No weekends, holidays, or call are required.
Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse in the surgical center is responsible for assessing and responding to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. This role involves utilizing professional nursing skills, implementing nursing care, and acting as a patient advocate. The nurse will coordinate patient care, document accurately, and ensure compliance with surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Assess and respond to individual patient needs through direct observation and interaction.
- Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement care and treat identified problems.
- Communicate patient assessments to relevant staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures and IV therapy.
- Transcribe and implement physician's orders accurately during patient admissions.
- Document clinical records via computer efficiently and accurately.
- Provide education and instructions to patients and their families.
- Help manage supplies in accordance with policy while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
- Assist with housekeeping duties as needed.
- Utilize critical thinking in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to assess and provide appropriate nursing care.
- Familiarize with the transfer process for sending patients to medical centers.
- Maintain effective communication and assist staff when functioning as a float nurse.
- Work in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned.
- Assist with anesthesia supplies and protocols during emergencies.
- Participate in committee meetings and contribute to improvement suggestions.
Current nursing license and relevant certifications in accordance with practice and job requirements are expected.
