American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a CT or compact license, with Level I trauma experience and specialized pediatric critical care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a large acute care hospital
- Patient population includes critically ill pediatric patients, including cardiac cases
- Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00 to 07:00)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating required to other pediatric units within scope, including Pediatric ED, NNICU, inpatient departments, and psychiatric units
- Epic EMR is used; experience preferred but not required
- Responsible for the care and monitoring of critically ill pediatric patients, including participation in advanced therapies such as CRRT and ECMO where qualified
- Travelers are expected to float to various pediatric units and must adapt to different care environments within the children’s hospital
- Connect with charge nurse for orientation when floating to unfamiliar units
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Facility is a Level I Trauma and Academic Medical Center
- Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved without additional approval; requests longer than 7 days require approval
- Employees must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
- Previously employed staff must meet rehire criteria for consideration
- Active CT or compact state RN license (pending license accepted with application prior to consideration)
- Minimum 3 years of recent PICU RN experience in a large trauma center required
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required
- Experience in cardiac critical care is required
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and ECMO certification preferred
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required unless exempt for religious or medical reasons
- No prior disciplinary action on nursing license accepted
- Prior permanent staff must have been gone at least 2 years to be considered
