The Lab Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated machinery and robotics systems in a manufacturing environment. The technician ensures operational efficiency by performing preventive maintenance, documenting activities in CMMS, and adhering to safety standards.
Our client in Ankeny, IA, is seeking an experienced Lab Automation Technician to join their team. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of automated systems within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of experience in automation or robotics, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
Location: Ankeney, IA
Shift: 2nd Shift (Sunday–Wednesday, 4x10-hour days - 2:00 pm - 12:00 am)
Rate: 30.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on automated machinery and robotics systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment experiencing downtime to restore production quickly.
- Document all maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Develop and maintain maintenance documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Utilize hand tools and shop tools for repairs and installations.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards while working in and around machinery.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–6 years in automation or robotics maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of automated components, including mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Preferred: Familiarity with SolidWorks CAD software (not required but a plus).
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces around machinery.
- Lift and move objects up to 60 lbs.
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and a team-oriented mindset.
