Pediatric Surgeon Locum Tenens Opportunity in Virginia

Job Details:
- Full-Time Coverage:
- Clinic hours Monday to Friday (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
- Night Call Coverage:
- Monday to Friday (8 p.m. - 8 a.m.)
- Weekend Call Coverage:
- 24-hour coverage on Saturdays and Sundays
- Rounding Responsibilities:
- Provide care for patients admitted during the week
- Weekend surgical consults as needed
- Consults from the Emergency Department (ED):
- Approximately 0-2 calls per day
- Emergency Surgeries:
- The hospital encounters around 8-10 emergent surgeries per year
- Note: It is not a trauma hospital
- Response Time:
- 15-minute maximum call-back time for emergency consults
- 30-minute maximum response time
- Patient Load:
- 0-4 patients per day per provider
Duties Include:
- Collaborating with other pediatric providers to diagnose and determine if surgery is necessary
- Managing and performing preoperative, operative, and postoperative care
- Utilizing office support staff during the day for triaging calls, including prescription refills
- Handling after-hours calls, primarily from the Pediatric Emergency Department
Submission Requirements:
- Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon - REQUIRED; no exceptions
- VA State License & DEA - REQUIRED at the time of submission
- COVID Vaccination - Highly Preferred
- Flu Vaccine - REQUIRED at the time of credentialing
Certification Requirements:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Board Certified
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
State License Requirements:
Additional License Requirements:
- Board certified in pediatric surgery
- VA License
- VA DEA
