American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience and EPIC EMR proficiency for an acute inpatient adult unit.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute inpatient adult care setting on the Occupational Therapy floor
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:30am to 6:00pm, with weekend rotation required
- Caseload is 8-10 patients per day, staffed by 2-3 therapists per shift
- Common diagnoses include neurological (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré), general medical, orthopedic (total joints, fractures), cardiac (pacemakers), and oncology cases
- Coverage includes all acute adult care areas except ICU unless experienced, no outpatient or skilled nursing
- EPIC charting experience is required
- Role covers a maternity leave with strong likelihood of extension for additional contract periods
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No blocked scheduling or special requests can be accommodated
- At least two days of unit-specific onboarding with an experienced OT preceptor are provided
- Expect to work 5 days of 8-hour shifts during the first onboarding week
- Weekend coverage is typically every other full weekend with occasional two weekends off in a row
- Travelers almost never work holidays but may be scheduled if needed
- Any color scrubs or business casual attire is acceptable
- Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for a travel position
- Active Occupational Therapist license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of acute care OT experience is required; acute rehab experience not sufficient
- Experience with adult acute care evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning
- Ability to communicate safe mobility plans to the interdisciplinary team
- Drivers license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
