An Internal Medicine Physician providing medical disability examinations and evaluations for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on a PRN basis, conducting primarily interview-based assessments including some physical tests. Responsibilities include completing standardized reporting forms, reviewing medical records, and performing follow-up administrative tasks without prescribing or treatment duties. The role involves flexibility in scheduling, travel options, and requires proficiency in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and neurological evaluations with quick credentialing and ongoing training provided.
Location: A city in Northwestern New Mexico situated near the borders of Colorado, Utah, and Arizona, which makes it a convenient spot for exploring a diverse range of landscapes and cultural sites. About 180 miles to Albuquerque! This opportunity is available in other parts of the state as well.

- Need is on a PRN basis, ongoing
- Willing to accept these specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, etc, or anyone with a background in general medicine, or experience with compensation and pension.
- Two (2) options for coverage - Travel and perform exams at leased facility and/or schedule Veterans within your own practice
- Option to work days(4-hours) and/or full days(8-hours)
- One-Time non-treatment C&P exams + separation health assessments
- Exams are primarily interview-based with some physical assessment: range of motion testing, muscle strength testing.
- No prescribing, no treatment
- Quick credentialing & onboarding
- DMA certification available (can get CME credits) will need to obtain once privileged if not already certified
- Use of Goniometer required
- Familiar with Musculoskeletal, Diabetes, and Cardio required
- Proficient in METs testing, evaluating and diagnosing respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.
- Own personal laptop (NO MACs)
- Training shall be provided for all Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)
- Reporting/DBQs must be submitted within 48 hours upon exam completion - no narrative report. End product is completion of standardized form(s).
- Evaluations to be completed in provider portal
- Record review is required in most cases
- Follow up administrative work will be required on a regular basis (addendums, medical opinions, and reading diagnostics)
- No call!
- Half-day Rate -flat rate for 4 hour shifts or less (includes times to complete exams, submit report, including any addendums, no OT)
- Daily Rate - flat rate for 5 hour shifts or longer (includes times to complete exams, submit report, including any addendums, no OT)
- Bonus - one time bonus for completing all required training and performing first exams
- Local candidates only, travel included in rates
