The Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician provides community-based psychiatric care to adults with serious mental illness as part of an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, working two days per week. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosing, managing medications, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and participating in treatment planning. The role emphasizes person-centered, recovery-oriented care, crisis intervention, compliance with regulatory standards, and education of team members.
Salary: $170-$175/hr
Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate psychiatrist to join their ACT Team two days a week. The ACT Psychiatrist plays a vital role in delivering community-based psychiatric care to adults living with serious and persistent mental illness. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact through person-centered care in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing medication management to ACT clients in the community and/or clinic setting
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, social workers, case managers, peer specialists, and substance use counselors
- Participate in daily team meetings and treatment planning sessions
- Monitor client progress, ensure continuity of care, and update treatment plans as needed
- Respond to urgent psychiatric needs and provide crisis intervention support
- Ensure documentation is timely, accurate, and meets regulatory standards
- Provide consultation and education to ACT team members regarding psychiatric issues
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards of care
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with a valid license to practice medicine in New York State
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- DEA license and current Controlled Substance Registration
- Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, preferably in a community-based or ACT model setting
- Strong commitment to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
