Job Description:
Join Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI, a leading facility recognized as a Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Magnet-designated hospital with comprehensive stroke care. This is an exciting opportunity for an IR Tech to work in a busy and high-acuity Cath Lab environment. The department boasts 15 labs shared among Cath, EP, and Hybrid suites, with approximately 11 dedicated to Cath procedures.
This role involves supporting a fast-paced, high-volume Cath Lab performing between 24 to 40 cases daily, exclusively adult patients. Cases include diagnostic and interventional procedures such as RHC, LHC, STEMI/NSTEMI interventions, CTOs, valvuloplasties, biopsies, atherectomies, staged PCI, IABP, Impella, and ECMO (preferred). You will also handle peripheral diagnostic and interventional cases, and potentially hybrid procedures like TAVRs, Watchman, AAA grafts, thoracic grafts, and clips, with hybrid experience preferred but not mandatory.
You will provide expert assistance in complex cardiac procedures, support the clinical team, and help ensure smooth operations within the department. This position offers a dynamic environment for professional growth in cardiovascular imaging and intervention.
Certifications & Licenses:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (preferred)
- RTR: BLS, ACLS, WI License, RCIS (preferred)
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Cath Lab or vascular procedures.
- Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures as listed above.
- Ability to perform conscious sedation and manage drips (RN required).
- Scrubbing and panning skills in Cath Lab procedures (RTR required).
- Hybrid procedure experience preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of hemodynamics and sterile technique.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Additional Responsibilities & Support:
- Support staff includes housekeeping, storeroom management, transporters (0630-2000), receptionists, charge nurses, RTs (24/7), hospitalists (24/7), and cardiology team (24/7).
- Familiarity with systems such as EPIC, GE C-arms, Volcano, St. Jude, Alphavac, Angiovac, EKOS, Anari, GE Pruka (Maclab), Fuji and ProSolv PACS, Maquet IABP.
- Orientation includes a 1-week training period.
- Department operates 24/7, with shifts of 8 or 12 hours available, including weekend call rotations.
- On-call anticipated every 2-3 months, with a 30-minute response time.
- Flexibility for time off requests with 7 days' notice.
- Possible holiday shifts if staffing requires.
