American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift PCU position requiring a MO or compact license and at least two years of recent specialty experience.
Responsibilities- Position is in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a tertiary care hospital setting
- Patient ratio is typically 1:5, with possible flex to 1:6 as needed
- Handles medical diagnoses related to pulmonary, wounds, urology, cardiac, neuro, and renal cases
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities is required
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
- At least 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
- Epic is used for charting and prior experience with Epic is preferred
- No on-call requirements
- Team members may be assigned charge RN responsibilities and holiday shifts as needed per unit requirements
- Navy scrubs are required for this position
- Facility is a five-time Magnet award winner and Level 1 Trauma hospital with free parking
- Maximum of 7 days of time off (RTO) allowed per assignment
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Candidates with diluted or positive drug screen results not cleared by MRO will not be eligible and must wait six months to reapply
- First-time travelers will not be considered
- No travel partners accepted for this assignment
- Training modules are required before start and annually thereafter
- Active MO or compact RN license in hand prior to consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or telemetry nursing experience required, with no employment gaps over 90 days in the past year
- Valid BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Demonstrated proficiency with telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, emergency response, IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line management, and wound care
- Experience with heparin and IV insulin protocols, chest tubes, non-invasive airway management, and PCA administration
- Preferred experience in cardiac telemetry, ER holding, rapid response, feeding tube care, renal failure, CVA, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, and tracheostomy management
- Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor from the past year
