Overview:
Provides patient-centered radiation therapy services while ensuring safety, accuracy, and exceptional customer service. Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintains a welcoming, professional environment for all patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-focused care, maintaining a friendly, safe, and service-oriented environment.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and care teams; respond promptly to concerns.
- Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to support all aspects of the treatment plan.
- Perform data collection, analysis, and quality assurance on treatment equipment under physics oversight.
- Conduct daily machine checks, troubleshoot minor equipment issues, and ensure accurate use of all computer systems.
- Fabricate and prepare treatment aids, immobilization devices, and assist with patient simulations/CTs.
- Schedule and prepare patients for both simulation and daily treatment sessions.
- Set up patients according to technical instructions; verify imaging and treatment parameters for accuracy.
- Deliver precise radiation therapy treatments, monitor patients during delivery, and maintain accurate treatment records.
- Educate and support patients and families regarding treatment expectations, skin care, diet, and post-treatment guidance.
- Identify and report treatment reactions or patient distress.
- Apply correct billing codes and assist with brachytherapy procedures when needed.
- Support student training as assigned; ensure radiation safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain clean, organized treatment rooms and ensure proper equipment stocking.
- Participate in treatment plan reviews, daily safety checks, and patient identification “time-outs.”
- Safely transfer/assist patients and respond appropriately to emergencies, including basic life support.
- Ensure patient consent is obtained and documented.
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation.
- Adhere to University Hospital policies, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
