American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a dynamic Progressive Care Unit requiring solid neuro experience and proficiency with PCU-level drips and procedures.
Responsibilities- Work in a mixed acuity PCU within a short-term acute care hospital
- Patient population includes medical, oncology, stroke, cardiac, GI, pulmonary, and PCU-level care
- Assignments may include unstable stroke patients, use of BiPap, and post-procedure cardiac care
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5-6 for medical-surgical, 1:3-4 for PCU
- Required to manage Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Insulin drips
- Night shifts available with options of 3x12 or 4x12-hour schedules (18:00-6:30)
- Floating may be required within the facility or to affiliate hospitals
- Uses Cerner EMR and experience is required
- Responsibilities include care of medical, oncology, stroke, cardiac, and PCU patients, including administration of complex drips and post-procedure monitoring
- May be required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Auto-approval for up to 5 days of requested time off
- Red top and black bottoms are required for scrubs
- Free parking available for staff
- Active IN or compact RN license required before start; pending licenses accepted if in hand before start
- AHA or RQI BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required and must be current
- 18 months to 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Solid neuro and PCU/telemetry experience required
- Must be a graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited university
- Must be able to manage PCU-level drips and perform post-heart cath and post-pacemaker care
- Local candidates not accepted for this position
- Prior perm or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying
