Performs direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process; coordinates care with other departments, maintains patient confidentiality and evaluates care effectiveness. Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, active RN licensure (state or compact), relevant life support certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS as required), and at least one year of experience. Role involves physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing/walking) and offers standard hospital benefits and professional development supports.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.Position Details:
Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience: 1 year of experience
Certifications: Life support certification current upon hire and in alignment with Mercy policy no later than 90 days after hire.
For Med Surg (MS) and Women's and Children's (WC) - BLS
For Critical Care (CC) - BLS, ACLS
For ED - BLS, ACLS, PALS
Physical requirements/demands:
- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
