Seeking a Board-Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist for a locum inpatient hospital position in Springfield, MA, with call responsibilities approximately every four days. The role involves performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies, biopsies, and management of GI emergencies, with an EPIC EMR system in use. Outpatient duties are not currently expected, and the position requires active Massachusetts medical licensure and BLS certification.
We are currently seeking a Board-Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist for an exciting Locum opportunity in Springfield, MA
Start Date: As soon as credentialed!
Schedule: Fri 4PM-Fri 4PM
Position Overview:
Practice Setting: Inpatient Call Structure at MMC approx 1:4 Fri 4pm-Fri 4pm Floor/ED/ICU/emergent consults and endoscopies (when needed) Carry Beeper overnight Outpatient-TBD and will know more early next week
Dates of Coverage: Start mid Dec 2025 until we find perm placement physician Clinical Areas: Adult, Hospital, Gastro, endoscopy Onsite Lab? Yes Onsite X-Ray? Yes Will Outpatient Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine be Required? No Average Number of Office/Clinic Patients Per Locum Per Day: unknown at this time if outpt coverage is required-will amend as soon as i know Average Number of Hospital Based Patients Per Locum Per Day: 4-12 per day How Many Physicians in Your Group? 4 Average Number of Patients Per Day: 4-12 per day Documentation System/EMR: EPIC Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: Start in mid to late December

Required Types of Upper GI Endoscopy:
- with Biopsy
- with Foreign Body Removal
- with Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery vs. Laser)
- with Injection of Varices
- with Banding of Varices

- with PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
- Board Certified/Board Eligible
