The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in residential rooms and common areas by following prescribed sanitary standards and housekeeping procedures. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently after training, and strong communication skills to respond to residents and staff needs. The position involves physical demands such as lifting, prolonged standing, and safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in an environment with potential exposure to medical waste and hazardous substances.

Position Responsibilities:
Residential Rooms
- Clean member apartments according to written assignments
- Stay in assigned areas and assist other associates as necessary or directed
- Conducting “flipper check”
- Wash, dust, polish, vacuum and sweep all areas of the apartment
- Clean sinks, tubs, showers and toilets according to prescribed sanitary standards
- Clean mirrors and windows
- Sort and wash laundry using machines
- Empty and clean trash cans
Common Areas
- Clean common areas according to written assignments
- Clean mirrors, sinks and toilets in common area restrooms according to prescribed sanitary standards
- Remove debris/trash from the front of the building, driveways, and all common areas inside or out
Position Responsibilities (cont.):
- Wash, dust, polish, vacuum and sweep all areas of the lobby and commons area including the Front Desk and elevators
- Empties ashtrays and urns
- Periodically check and restock all supplies including toilet paper, soap and hand towels in common area restrooms
- Arrange all cushions properly on lobby sofa
Both
- Clean assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures
- Observe and report any maintenance issues
- Listen and respond to resident, guest and staff requests and inquiries
- Stock and clean storage area for equipment and supplies
- Maintain all equipment used in performing duties
- Following safety and infection control procedures
- Perform other housekeeping related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- One to two years housekeeping experience preferred
- Command of English strongly preferred
- Knowledge of infection control policies
- Knowledge of heavy equipment performance
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of walking and/or standing. Also requires bending, stooping, reaching and moving light furniture
- Needs ability to lift up to 50 pounds. If more than 35 pounds a hand truck must be used
- Exposure to chemicals on a constant basis requiring special clothing (PPE), or safety equipment
- The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to noise. There is protection from weather conditions
- Interacts with residents, family members and other staff under all conditions and circumstances
- Exposure to medical waste and occasionally unsanitary conditions, unpleasant odors, and hazardous (concentrated) chemicals
- Ability to push/pull a housekeeping cart, mop and bucket, vacuum, use of floor equipment, climbing ladder to 6/8 feet
