Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring scrub and circulate abilities and a valid SC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
- Responsibilities include both scrub and circulate roles
- Patient population consists of surgical patients across specialties
- Uses Cerner EMR for documentation
- 8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, five days per week
- Call required: 3 weekday and 2 weekend (24-hour) shifts per 6-week period
- Floating may be required to a nearby sister hospital
- Provide perioperative nursing care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and staff
- Must demonstrate sound critical thinking and emergency response skills
- Responsibilities include advocating for patients, addressing ethical issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and other typical hospital conditions is expected
- Must comply with mandatory background checks and drug screening within strict timelines
- Maximum assignment duration is one calendar year, after which a 30-60 day break is required before returning
Requirements
- Active RN license in South Carolina or a compact state, not as a SC permanent resident
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
- Ability to both scrub and circulate in the OR
- BSN preferred or required within five years of hire for direct patient care positions
- Experience with Cerner EMR is required
- Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, lift/move patients, and carry up to 50 lbs
- No candidates within a 50-mile radius (no locals considered)
