American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with a MO or compact license for a Labor & Delivery night shift contract requiring strong L&D and postpartum skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a combined Labor & Delivery and postpartum unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and post-operative GYN patients
- Typical patient ratios are 1:1 in L&D, with 1:2 or 1:3 for antepartum and cervical ripening based on acuity
- Average daily census is 7-10 patients, with 28 rooms and 33 beds in the unit
- PeriWatch fetal monitoring application and Phillips Avalon fetal monitors are used
- Night shift schedule is 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
- Required to work 4-5 weekend shifts per 6-week period and a minimum of 2 Sunday night or 2 Friday day shifts per 6 weeks
- On-call requirement is 2 shifts per 6-week period
- Floating may be required to the postpartum unit for couplet care
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
- Care responsibilities encompass antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, post-op GYN, and couplet care
- Unit utilizes LDRP model; LDRP experience preferred, but LD/LDR-only experience considered
- Patient assignments determined by AWHONN acuity guidelines
- Must be comfortable assisting with high-risk deliveries, OB emergencies, and a wide range of obstetric interventions
- RTO (Request Time Off) is limited to a maximum of 7 days
- No travel partners accepted for this assignment
- Pre-employment modules must be completed before the assignment begins
- Drug screening is required; positive or diluted screens not cleared by MRO will result in cancellation
- First-time travelers are not considered for this assignment
- Scrub color or dress code details not specified
- Active Missouri or compact state RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS, FHM, and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of recent L&D experience required, with at least 1 year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Two professional references required, including one from a supervisor level or above and another from a charge RN, both from within the past year
- Demonstrated skills in antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum care, sterile exams, fetal monitoring, medication administration, and assisting with a range of obstetric and neonatal procedures
- Willingness to float between units and facilities as needed
