Job Details:
• Work 36 or 48 hour shifts per week with guaranteed contracted hours
• Patient ratio of 1:5 across all shifts
• 2 years of nursing experience required; Level 1 trauma experience strongly preferred
• Travel experience strongly preferred, though candidates with 2+ years Level 1 experience may be considered
• Weekend coverage required as needed (Saturday and Sunday for day shifts, Friday-Sunday for night shifts)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH (can pend), PALS, TNCC (must have before submission)
• New Mexico license can be pending at time of submission
• 24-hour orientation period required
• Floating expectations: optional to Pediatric ED, required to Adult PCUs based on staffing needs, potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
• No on-call requirements
• Approximately 60%-80% of Emergency Department patients are admitted with many ED rooms serving as "ED Holding"
• Handle Level 1 trauma cases, medication administration including IV medications, document and communicate clinical findings
• Work with specialized equipment including arterial lines, central lines, ventilated patients, and trauma resuscitation
• Black scrubs required (not provided)
• Use Cerner charting system with bar code medication scanning
• No locals within 75 miles accepted
• Overtime must be pre-approved and is rarely granted
• No RQI certifications accepted
• RTO restrictions: no requests during first 7 days or last day of contract

This academic medical center operates as a Level I Trauma and Children's Hospital with 554 staffed beds, serving as a major teaching facility providing comprehensive acute care services. The emergency department maintains high patient volumes with 170-200 daily census and approximately 175 visits per day across 53 rooms and 68 beds. The facility features comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and transportation services, and operates as a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center with advanced trauma and resuscitation capabilities.
