Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department/Med Surg role requiring night shifts and current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an acute Critical Access Hospital setting working on a combined Emergency Room (ER) and Med/Surg unit
• Care for med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department patients with typical RN procedures such as IV starts and foley catheters
• Night shifts, 12 hours, with every other weekend required
• Staff float daily between med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department
• Average census is about 4 patients per day, with a 10-room unit
• Nurse to patient ratio averages 1:2 or 1:3 but may be up to 1:6 based on census
• Equipment includes EPIC EMR, Philips central monitor/telemetry, and Lifepak 15
• EPIC experience is preferred but not required
• RNs work in teams of two, with possible additional support from a PCT or LPN
• Orientation is tailored to individual needs and includes up to one week with exposure to both day and night shifts
• Navy scrubs are required for this position
• All clinicians are required to badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles are accepted but are subject to a different pay structure

Requirements

• Active SD or compact state RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience with at least 2 years in the ER and 2 years in Med Surg
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Critical Access Hospital experience preferred
• Ability to fulfill the charge nurse role in the ER preferred
• Must disclose any previous employment at Sanford Health and have ended at least 6 months prior to consideration
