American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 3 years of OR experience and a WV or compact RN license for a 13-week acute care assignment.
Responsibilities- Position is in the hospital's acute care Operating Room unit
- Covers surgical cases except open heart, with emphasis on neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general surgery, and ENT
- Main OR has 14 suites with an average of 28 cases per day
- Patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR
- Uses Epic EMR; prior Epic experience preferred
- Shift is 12 hours, primarily days (7a-7:30p), with varied start times and block scheduling available as needed by the unit
- One weeknight on-call (7p-7a) and one weekend day on-call (7a-7p) per month required
- On-call response time is 20 minutes; if living further away, on-call stay at facility is required
- Floating to outpatient surgery center may be needed
- No self-scheduling for travelers
- Scrubs are provided
- Responsible for circulating cases and assisting in a variety of surgical procedures excluding open heart and vascular (until August)
- Collaboration with a team of RNs, techs, and support disciplines; no aides or housekeepers—techs assist with room turnover
- Three-shift orientation specific to the OR
- RT available 24/7, with pharmacy and Omnicell support
- Participates in a holiday call rotation as needed
- No local traveler candidates accepted
- Block scheduling may be available depending on unit needs
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum of 3 years recent OR experience required
- At least two prior travel assignments in the OR required
- Ortho and neuro surgery experience preferred
- Must provide an unexpired driver’s license
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Former employees or travelers must have a 2-year break before returning
