American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring a MO or compact license and the ability to float between units and facilities.
Responsibilities- Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float role across various departments and facilities
- Patient population includes telemetry, cardiac, neuro stepdown, post-cardiac, and post-surgical cases
- Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.)
- Patient ratios are 1:5
- Weekend requirement includes 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule block, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities is required
- Responsibilities include management of cardiac and neuro stepdown patients, cardiac drips (with and without titration), feeding tubes, chest tubes, wound care, and rapid response participation
- Must adhere to isolation precautions, manage central and peripheral lines, and handle emergency cardiovascular situations
- Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage required as needed by the unit
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- No travel partners accepted for this assignment
- No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed
- Completion of required facility training modules before and during assignment is expected
- Drug screening is required prior to start; those not cleared must wait 6 months before reapplying
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active MO or compact RN license in hand prior to consideration
- Minimum 2 years recent specialty experience in PCU or similar settings with at least 1 year in the specialty within the last 12 months and no employment gaps over 90 days
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, IV therapy, phlebotomy, emergency response, and post-cardiac/procedure care
- Experience in hospital settings including MS/Tele, ER holding, neuro stepdown, and cardiac telemetry
- Ability to float between units and facilities as needed
- Two references required: one supervisor level or above and one charge RN, both from the past year
