American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit requiring ONC certification and inpatient Med/Surg experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a hospital environment
- Primarily cares for medical-surgical patients with oncology history and general med/surg diagnoses
- Typical patient ratio is 1:6, with a daily census of 42 patients
- Patients may have conditions such as AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, ARF, diabetic foot ulcers, and may require chemotherapy/biotherapy
- Procedures include colostomy care, port access, central and peripheral line care, blood products, PICC management, surgical drains, wound care, and chest tube management
- Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 18:45 - 7:15), every other weekend required
- Floating required to similar care units and alternate inpatient holding areas
- Required to attend monthly staff meetings
- Uses PYXIS for medication and Epic for EMR documentation
- Expected to participate as a member of the Storm Team or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events
- May be preassigned or consolidated to different units as needed during contract
- Shifts missed due to call offs must be made up
- No additional RTO accepted after booking; call offs or extra RTO may result in contract cancelation
- Navy blue and white scrubs are required
- Unit orientation consists of 24 hours (2 shifts)
- Locals are accepted
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient Med/Surg nursing experience
- ONC certification required and must be able to administer chemotherapy
- BLS certification required
- Successful completion of EKG testing prior to start
- Experience with wound vacs, chest tubes, heparin drips, insulin, and biotherapy administration
- First-time travelers accepted
