The Emergency Medicine Physician will provide locum tenens coverage at a community hospital emergency department, managing a wide range of urgent medical, surgical, and trauma cases. This role involves working 12-hour shifts in a Level IV trauma center with support from hospital staff and requires certification and experience in emergency medicine. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, performing emergency procedures, coordinating care, and accurate documentation using Cerner EMR.

Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM and 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM
- Coverage needed 7 days per week
Facility& ED Details:
- Annual ED Volume: 20,000 visits
- Average Daily Volume: 54 patients
- ED Beds: 18
- Trauma Designation: Provisional Level IV
- Admissions from ED: 90% of total hospital admissions
- ED Admission Rate: 8%
- Transfer Rate: 2%
- EMR: Cerner
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency department patients of all acuity levels.
- Manage medical, surgical, and trauma presentations in a Level IV trauma setting.
- Perform emergency procedures consistent with training and experience.
- Coordinate care with consultants and inpatient teams as needed.
- Document all patient encounters accurately in Cerner EMR.
Requirements:
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with a minimum of 2+ years of emergency department experience
- Active Michigan medical license
- DEA registration
- BLS required
- ACLS and ATLS required
- PALS required for non-EM board-certified physicians
