· Number of Staff – 25 RNs / 29 CSTs
· Type of staff:
o M-F
§ 0630-1500: 13 RNs / 13 CSTs to run up to 10 rooms
§ 1500-1700: 8 RNs / 8 CSTs to run up to 7 rooms
§ 1700-1900: 6 RNs / 5 CSTs to run up to 4 rooms
§ 1900-2300: 3 RNs / 2 CSTs to run up to 2 rooms
§ 2300-0700: 1 RN / 1 CST to cover trauma
o Saturday and Sunday
§ 0700-0700: 1 RN / 1 CST to cover trauma
§ Saturday has an additional call team to run two rooms from 0630-1500
o Trauma team (1 RN / 1 CST) available during off hours
o 1 CST for L&D Call
· Patient Ratios – average 50 hours of surgical time (patient in room) Monday – Friday. Weekends vary with Saturday heavier than Sunday.
· EMR - Meditech
List typical procedures performed on unit(s):
· Burn: high acuity patients mostly from ICU: wound debridement, skin grafting, dressing change
· Dental: restoration (cavities) and oral maxillofacial
· ENT: T&A through parathyroidectomy and cochlear implants
· Gastroenterology: EGD, colonoscopy
· General - everything
· Gynecology – ablations, vaginal/abdominal hysters
· Neuro – stealth, spinal fusions, discectomy, craniotomy
· Open Heart – CABG, fempop, fistulas
· Ophthalmology – vitrectomy, cataracts, corneal transplant
· Orthopedics – trauma, total joints, sports med
· Plastics – breast augmentation/reconstruction
· Pychiatry – electroconvulsive therapy
· Robotics – gyn, general, urology
· Trauma – damage control resuscitative surgery, neuro, ortho, general
· Urology – cystoscopy, TURB, TURP, stents
