Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Work 4x10 hour shifts Monday through Friday with rotating start times as needed
• No weekends, no call, and no holidays required
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Float within scope to PACU or PreOp units to meet facility needs
• Work primarily rotating between PACU and pre/post interventional radiology area within PACU unit
• Provide care for adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric population in Level I trauma center
• Recover patients from diverse surgical specialties including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (CCRN and TNCC preferred)
• Must have 2 years of PACU experience in Level I trauma center (ICU experience preferred)
• Critical care experience required for patients with artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Skills required: dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients
• Experience required with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• Night shift personnel must learn preop patient workup
• Navy blue scrubs required
• EPIC charting system experience preferred
• No more than 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Must reside at least 75 miles from facility

The PACU unit operates 24/7 with 38 patient bays and maintains an average daily census of 70-90 patients. The facility is a short-term acute care hospital that provides comprehensive surgical services and high-acuity post-operative care, with 80% of PACU patients being admitted to the hospital after procedures. The unit includes its own PCT/transport team and offers interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams.
