The role involves clinical assessments, collaboration with detention staff, and maintaining detailed medical records. The practitioner also handles addiction management and liaises with external healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for detained youth.
Adelphi is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to provider services at a juvenile detention facility in Bellingham, Washington (WA).
The ideal APRN will have experience providing services in a detention facility.

Requirements:
• Current, unrestricted WA License
• DEA Certification
• BLS/ACLS
Responsibilities:
• Holds clinics for youth who request nursing care or are referred by staff.
• Reviews health histories and medications of newly detained youth.
• Prepares medical records for clinics and gathers relevant medical history from clients.
• Communicates with youth's primary medical providers about significant health issues.
• Approves and monitors medications, ensuring timely prescriptions and refills.
• Collaborates with detention officers regarding urgent health needs of youth.
• Assesses and treats youth with acute or chronic medical issues or those referred by staff or parents.
• Treats opioid-addicted youth, including withdrawal management and referrals to community providers.
• Refers youth to external medical or dental services and informs the Detention Manager of these referrals.
• Updates detention staff on medical treatments affecting youth's activities and documents in detention files.
• Consults with the Health Officer on significant health concerns or outbreaks.
• Prepares and maintains the clinic, including cleaning and organizing the exam room.
• Collects and prepares lab specimens, including administering and reading TB skin tests.
• Maintains medical documentation, checks for medication errors, and conducts monthly supply inventories.
• Other duties as assigned by facility
