Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is seeking skilled Locum Physicians to conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across North Carolina. This opportunity allows you to leverage your medical expertise to serve our nation's Veterans on a PRN basis, offering flexible days and locations tailored to your availability.
In this vital role, you'll perform interview-based assessments with minimal physical examinations, focusing on gathering accurate information to support veterans' benefits. There are no treatment or prescribing responsibilities, making it an ideal position for physicians with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine, especially those familiar with compensation and pension evaluations. The work is quick to credential and onboarding is straightforward, allowing you to start making a difference promptly.
Required skills include a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, valid medical licensure in North Carolina, and experience in general medicine or related fields. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform thorough interview assessments. Nice-to-have skills include prior experience with compensation and pension exams or certifications related to veteran health assessments.
Preferred educational background is a medical degree from an accredited institution, with at least one year of clinical experience. Candidates must hold an active NC medical license and be comfortable working independently. Additional requirements include the ownership of a suitable office location, as these exams are conducted in your own practice setting, flexibility to work based on client needs, and the ability to complete administrative follow-up tasks such as report submissions.
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $624.00, with opportunities for bonus incentives upon completing training and initial exams. The work schedule is days, PRN based on your availability and includes travel within designated areas, with rates inclusive of travel reimbursements.
