ON HOLD 01.05.2026 Urgent Locum GI Position - High-Volume Inpatient Caseload in Massachusetts A prestigious healthcare facility in Springfield, MA, is urgently seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterology Physician for an ongoing locum tenens position. This role is pivotal for maintaining high-quality inpatient care following a recent team retirement, offering a consistent schedule of one week per month. Position Highlights: Setting: Exclusively Inpatient (No outpatient duties). Schedule: Consistent 1:4 call rotation, from Friday 4 PM to the following Friday 4 PM. Responsibilities: Coverage of Floor, ED, ICU, emergent consults, and necessary endoscopies. Volume: Manage an average of 4-12 hospital patients per day. System: Documentation via EPIC. Required Procedures: The successful candidate must be highly proficient in a wide range of procedures, including: Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy (Diagnostic and Therapeutic) Includes: Biopsy, Foreign Body Removal, Fulguration of Bleeder, Injection/Banding of Varices, and PEG placement. Colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy Small Bowel Biopsy and Liver Biopsy Esophageal Dilatation/Manometry (Interpretation required) Qualifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology. Active Massachusetts Medical License and BLS Certification. Proficiency in the required procedures listed above. ERCP Certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
