Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1470 - $1570
• Location: Orangeburg, SC 29118 (South Carolina nursing jobs)
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital – Medical Surgical Stepdown Unit
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/18/2025 – End: 2/17/2026)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: May float to similar stepdown or telemetry units
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue
• Parking: Free on-site parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license (required prior to start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Stepdown or acute care RN experience (2 years preferred)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS and CPI certifications preferred
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Cardiac telemetry and tele competency required
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration)
• Previous charge nurse and community hospital experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage cardiac drips, and respond to cardiac events
• Administer medications, manage central and peripheral IV lines, and perform wound care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to similar medical-surgical or telemetry units as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in weekend coverage and respond to emergency situations as required
