Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring recent trauma level I experience and flexibility with weekend scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Position located in a hospital PCU setting focused on cardiovascular patient care
• Patients include those with congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, post-myocardial infarction, post-cath lab procedures, pulmonary hypertension, and related comorbidities
• Assignment is 13 weeks with 12-hour day shifts (3x12) from 7:00 to 19:30
• Staffing ratio is 1:4
• Floating may be required to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals
• Required to work at least 50% of weekends and 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Responsibilities may include precepting and mentoring students or staff as needed
• Charge nurse coverage may be required with provided training and support
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved
• All travelers are required to float as needed
• Appropriate scrubs or attire required according to hospital policy

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
• ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing degree required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience; trauma level I experience required
• Current BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with cardiac PCU, drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Not accepting local candidates for this position
• Former perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
