Position Overview:
Join our team and play a vital role in ensuring patients receive timely access to essential medications. As a Pharmacy Technician focused on prior authorizations, you will support Mercy Primary Care clinics by accurately processing requests and collaborating with providers and insurance companies. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to electronic, verbal, and manual prior authorization requests with accuracy and efficiency.
Verify active prescription insurance through chart review or eligibility searches.
Communicate with clinics to obtain missing information needed for prior authorizations.
Handle incoming calls from insurance companies regarding prior authorization inquiries.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure:
Active registration and good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, or willingness to apply by the first day of employment (including fingerprinting for FBI background check).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system.
At least 1 year of retail pharmacy experience.
Licensure:
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
