American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring Idaho or compact RN licensure and strong acute care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) on a 19-bed Medical Surgical unit
- Patient population includes both pediatric and adult Med/Surg cases, with common diagnoses such as post-op orthopedic, ski trauma, fractures, total joint replacements, GYN surgical procedures, and respiratory conditions
- Average census is 9 patients with a maximum 1:5 RN-to-patient ratio, supported by 4 RNs usually on shift
- RNs will titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and initiate pressors for critical patients
- Use of Epic EMR is required
- Night shifts are 12 hours, scheduled 3 nights per week, with self-scheduling alongside core staff
- Weekend and holiday shifts are equitably distributed with core staff
- Call required twice per contract
- Floating may be required for helping hands or safety attendant tasks, but not to other departments
- Responsibilities include assessment, monitoring, medication administration, wound care, rhythm recognition, and managing surgical drains and tele patients
- Must be comfortable working with pediatric and adult patients with diverse medical and surgical needs
- RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry, assisted by techs for monitoring
- Support team includes a charge RN, 1-2 CNAs per shift, and access to a virtual care team for admissions and discharges
- Two shifts of unit-specific orientation are provided
- Any color scrubs may be worn
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests are accepted
- Active Idaho or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience, including pediatrics and ortho post-op/totals
- Ability to titrate and administer common drips such as Heparin and cardiac medications
- Experience with Epic EMR documentation required or preferred
- Two recent professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and another from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
- Driver’s license and supporting documents must be provided for consideration
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying as a traveler
