The position is for a Primary Care/School Based Health Supervising Physician providing direct patient care and medical supervision within a community health center and school-based programs. Seeking a Primary Care/School Based Health Supervising Physician The physician functions in the primary care group providing direct patient care, coordinating medical care, and providing medical supervision at the health center and school-based program. This role involves direct patient care in the community health center and provides guidance and supervision to physician assistants/nurse practitioners in the school-based health centers. Provides primary care directly, emphasizing accessibility, health promotion, illness prevention and continuity of care to patients presenting with minor and complex health issues. Takes a complete history including medical, psychosocial, economic, relationship and family status. Completes physical examinations, performs/orders appropriate diagnostic tests. Discusses health concerns/diagnosis with the patient and together determines an appropriate plan of care. Develops, reviews and approves clinical protocols and best practice guidelines. Supervises the clinical practice of non-physician practitioners as appropriate and contributes to their professional development. Provides guidance and supervision to physician assistants and nurse practitioners in the school-based health centers and works collaboratively to improve quality of care. Includes chart reviews, documentation, providing one on one mentorship and on-site supervision. Works collaboratively with the school-based health team to improve quality of care and identify quality improvement initiatives. Actively participates in NYSDOH/IPRO regulatory and program activities. Required: Graduation from an approved medical college and completion of approved residency training. Current NYS license and DEA. Board certified or eligible MD/DO in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Medicine/Pediatrics.Preferred: One to three years clinical experience preferred. One year demonstrated clinical supervisory experience. Bilingual/Multi-lingual abilities. Experience in delivering culturally competent healthcare. Interest in on-going learning, best practice development, and education.
