The nurse will manage complex patient cases including respiratory, trauma, and post-operative care with support from multidisciplinary teams in a 28-bed unit.

Position: PICU RN
Shift: 3x12s, Rotating, Primarily Nights (2 months Nights, 7p-7:30a/1 Month Days, 7a-7:30p), holiday requirement if contract is during that period
Weekend REQ: Up to 5 weekend shifts per schedule for nights (to include Fri/ Sat/ Sun), 4 weekend shifts per schedule for days (to include Saturdays and Sundays)
Is on-call REQ: N/A
Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 - mixed unit with ICU and Stepdown patients, so ratios vary
Will the clinician float within scope to meet facility needs? Yes
Required/Preferred
Years of experience REQ: 2 years of PICU experience
Accept 1st time travelers: yes
Experience Preferred: ECMO, CRRT
License REQ: SC or Multi State/Compact RN license
Certs REQ: BLS, PALS (MUSC only accepts American Heart Association (AHA))

UNIT DETAILS:
The Pediatric Intensive Care unit is a 28-bed unit providing intensive and intermediate care to children ages 0-18 from across the state of South Carolina. The unit cares for patients with a blend of medical and surgical diagnoses. Common diagnoses include, but are not limited to, respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative surgical patients requiring immediate intensive care support, and neurology/neurosurgery. In addition to ventilatory and cardiac support, the unit provides ECMO/CRRT, renal or peritoneal dialysis and additional complex supportive therapies . Pediatric Palliative care is available as needed. The staffing mix includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries with therapeutic supportive services such as Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacist available as needed.
