The role is for a Locum Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon providing Level II trauma coverage in Minnesota with a start in early 2026. Responsibilities include performing routine cardiovascular surgeries such as CABG, valve repairs, TAVR, and minimally invasive procedures, with coverage involving on-call rotations. Candidates must hold an MN medical license or be part of IMLC and be proficient in a variety of cardiac and vascular surgeries excluding oncology lung and electrophysiology cases.

Level II Trauma ASAP Start - Emergency Temps available for clean records. Must submit a complete file! MN License or IMLC Required
Jan 1 start ideal but not likely. Committee meeting is on Jan 5, 2026.
M-F 7a-5p 1 in 3 call week rotation call weeks include day shift, overnight (5p-7a) and weekend 24 call
Predominately Routine Cases - CABs, Valves etc. CABs/Valves/etc: 250
Standbys:
TAVR: 200
Clips: 100
Lead extractions: 35
Ideal Candidate: Proficient in Cardiothoracic and Vascular procedures. Flexible on this.
Oncology Lung cases will go to another facility
No Electrophysiology cases
Aortic aneurysms
Aortic dissections
Atrial fibrillation surgery
Cardiac valve repair and replacement
Carotid endarterectomy
Congenital heart surgery
Coronary artery bypass surgery Esophageal surgery (minimally invasive)
Heart failure surgery
Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) surgery
Minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery
