This position is for a travel nurse registered nurse (RN) specializing in the Operating Room (OR) providing perioperative patient care in Brooklyn, New York on a 13-week travel assignment. The nurse is responsible for preparing the operative area, assisting during surgeries, maintaining sterile environments, and collaborating with healthcare team members. A BSN degree, New York State RN license, BLS certification, and at least 3 years of OR experience are required.

Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
-A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in an Operating Room setting.
-Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
-Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive, and cultural diversity of the patient.
-Determines mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition and adjusts plan of care, as appropriate.
-Responsible for supervising and directing patient care in the operating suite while ensuring proper techniques are used.
-Maintains count on sponges, needles and other instruments used in the operating room.
-Collaborates as appropriate with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs.
-Operating Room Nurse also serves as a scrub nurse when necessary.
-Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families.
-Prepares the operative area, positions patient adjusts operative table.
-Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly.
-Ensures all supplies and equipment required are sterile and available for use.
-Observes any changes in the patient’s condition.
-Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
-Performs other duties as required.
-Directs other staff when necessary, report any unusual occurrences to surgeon in charge.
-Ensures all medication s are administered and charted.
-Ensures care of specimens are labeled and secured as per policy.
Education: Required Education: -Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Preferred Education: -Master's Degree in Nursing, preferred. Required Certifications & Licensure: -New York State RN License. -BLS required.
