We are seeking an Optometrist for a locum tenens assignment in Virginia, starting Dec 1, 2025. This role spans 24 days, offering a flexible schedule of 8 days per month with 8:30 am to 2 pm shifts. The ideal candidate has experience in nursing home and geriatric care and is comfortable providing routine eye care across multiple facilities. Job Details Location: Virginia Start Date: Dec 1, 2025 LOA: 24 days Provider Type Needed: Optometrist Schedule: 8 days per month; flexible arrangement (2 days per week or consecutive days), 8:30 am2 pm Responsibilities and Duties Conduct routine eye exams and charting for patients in nursing home settings Diagnose and treat ocular diseases Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses as needed Advise patients, families, and facilities on appropriate follow-up care Refer patients for specialized care when necessary Prescribe antibiotics as required (no other prescribing required) Travel within a 1.5-hour radius to multiple care centers, with daily driving up to one hour between locations Additional Information Virginia optometry license required Must be registered with or eligible for Medicare and Medicaid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Preference for candidates with nursing home and geriatric care experience Flexible schedule; can start as soon as credentialed Benefits Strong compensation Travel-related expenses covered A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided Dedicated recruiter for future travel opportunities What are Locum Tenens Jobs?
