The Occupational Therapy Assistant supports licensed occupational therapists by implementing treatment programs for patients, managing therapy-related tasks, and ensuring a safe and clean care environment. They perform technical duties in patient treatment, participate in administrative and quality control activities, and collaborate with healthcare team members for effective patient care. This role requires an associate degree, licensure, and experience with clinical and leadership responsibilities in occupational therapy settings.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in carrying out occupational therapy treatment programs for inpatients and outpatients under the direction and supervision of licensed occupational therapists. Assists with educational, administrative, managerial, and quality control duties. Performs technical work in all phases of patient treatment. Assists in maintaining safety and cleanliness of the patient care area, supplies and equipment in optimum condition to facilitate smooth operations. Participates effectively with other members of the health care team for maximum patient benefit and efficiency.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program. At least two years of experience as a licensed occupational therapy assistant is required. Meets clinical and leadership activities and behaviors as defined in the clinical ladder or equivalent.
LICENSURE
Licensure by the Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners as an Occupational Therapy Assistant is required. Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc is preferred. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider card.
