Job Summary
This firm is hiring an Experienced Criminal Defense Attorney for its Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigator to handle a varied caseload from intake through trial or resolution, collaborating with a dedicated team of attorneys and paralegals.
Responsibilities
- Manage cases from intake to trial or plea negotiations.
- Represent clients in court, mediation, and administrative hearings.
- Maintain clear client communication throughout cases.
- Supervise and mentor paralegals and junior attorneys.
- Stay current on Virginia criminal law and support firm growth.
Requirements
- JD in good standing with the DC Bar.
- 3-5 years of criminal defense litigation experience with proven courtroom success.
- Strong knowledge of DC criminal law and court systems.
- Ability to independently manage complex cases.
- Leadership skills with experience mentoring staff.
- Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with appellate cases or post-conviction relief (PCR) is a plus.
- Spanish proficiency is an advantage.
- Prior clerkship experience is preferred.
Compensation
$110,000-$150,000
