Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Tyler, TX 75701 (East Texas healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Med/Surg – 3 North A (36-bed medical-surgical unit)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Patient Ratios: 1:6
• Weekend Coverage: Half of scheduled shifts
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Manage a patient load of up to 6 per shift in a busy medical-surgical unit
• Float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
• Perform and manage Med/Surg and MS/Tele skills, including colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure, accessing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, starting IVs, and wound care
• Care for patients with ortho trauma, total joint replacements, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and pre/post thoracic surgery
• Utilize respiratory equipment such as HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams
• Document all care accurately using Epic EMR
