American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position with a focus on renal patient management and a GA or compact RN license requirement.
Responsibilities- Work in the Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Focus on renal care, including HD cath management, peritoneal dialysis (manual and cycler), and management of CKD and HTN emergencies
- Additional cases include sepsis, telemetry monitoring, ETOH withdrawal (CIWA), and UTIs
- Patient ratio is 1:6, with 20 rooms and an average daily census of 18
- Uses Epic for EMR, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and the SBAR communication tool
- Day shift position, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- Floating between units is required
- No on-call requirements
- Required to work every other weekend
- Expected to work holidays based on the assignment period
- Responsibilities include monitoring renal therapies, responding to emergencies, and providing care to diverse Med/Surg patient populations
- Scrub color is navy or white or combinations
- Up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed, with no holidays off permitted if only one or two major holidays occur during the assignment; restrictions apply for three holidays
- Must be available to complete required compliance items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
- Full compliance is required before start, with orientation modules completed during the onboarding process
- Travel pairs are not permitted to be assigned the same shift on the same unit
- Perm or PRN staff must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- No blocked scheduling is permitted
- Active GA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to manage renal patients, including experience with HD catheters and peritoneal dialysis
- Proficiency in Epic charting system preferred
- Must provide two supervisory references from a manager or higher, references from charge nurses are not accepted
